Caernarfon Town v Leeds Vixens

Sunday, 26th August

The Cofis are hated by the Leeds team, they’ve stopped them from winning the league two seasons in a run so it was a great opener for the Oval crowd.

Town started the brightest but Leeds had better chances to score. It was Town who scored first with Shan Jones using her pace against the defence and slotted confidently passed the keeper. Town were fortunate to go in 1-0 at half time and knew that the game wasn’t over.

Town started well again in the second half and dominated all over the field. It was Shan’s pace again that got her her second of the game to ease the pressure on the home team.

Leeds weren’t giving up though, and they put pressure on Town in what proved to be a good spell for them. They were rewarded for their hard work when they pulled one back on 65mins to create a nervy last 25mins to the game.

Leeds were awarded a penalty five minutes later. The referee gave a penalty when the ball hit Siwan Elenid's shoulder in the box. It wasn’t a penalty and justice was done when the Leeds player hit the ball wide.

Shan completed her hat-trick on 80mins to ease the pressure on the home team but Leeds carried on battling and scored straight after Shan’s goal to create a great finish to the game.

Caernarfon cleared their lines at every opportunity and held on to a 3-2 win to secure the vital 3 points against a strong side and a very positive start to the season.
