Caernarfon
Town v Middlesborough
Sunday, 9th September
Middlesborough
are always a tough team to beat, they finished 3rd in the league last season and beat one of the favourite teams
last week.
Caernarfon had a full squad for the first time this season, with the return of 2 old players, Ailsa Orlik and
Manon Lloyd Williams, it added much needed experience to the team.
First
half was dominated by Town, they played really good football which they hadn't done so far this season.
Middlesborough’s
keeper was sent off after 15mins, she handled outside the box. Although Town played really good football, the visitors got
the break and scored first after 25mins.
The Cofis’ heads didn't go down and they pulled one back through Shan Jones
after Iona Williams played a through ball from midfield. Town were unlucky to go in 1-1 at half time and knew there were much
more to come in the second half.
In
the second half, Caernarfon improved on their 1st half performance. They played the ball around and made the 10
players work hard. Manon LLoyd Williams's pace down the right hand side caused problems all game, she combined well with Becky
Williams and Manon got her reward when she scored from a tight angle after running 40yds with the ball.
Shan
scored her second shortly afterwards when she was in one v one with the keeper after good work from Ceryl Jones in midfield.
Middlesborough were struggling with Town's pace with Shan Jones, Ailsa Orlik and Manon running at them. And also with the
work rate of Yasmin Leung and Siwan Elenid in midfield, and Ceryl's skill, the home team were dominating all over.
Shan
scored her hat-trick on 70mins with another 1v1 with the keeper. Shan then lost her head and showed inexperience as she lashed
out at a player after being fouled numerous times. She received her 2nd yellow card and both teams were down to
10 players with 10mins left to play.
CT were worthy winners with a flattering score of 4-1. Good all round performance
by all the players, Kim Broadbent and Cerys Gadd kept the defence tight and gave Middlesborough no opportunity to get through
at all.
